Quests

On this page: how to talk to an NPC and accept a quest, the quest log (L), the on-screen tracker, the quest bag (U) and how to find your objectives on the map.

Quests tell the story of the season and lead you across the island in level order. Today there are 112 quests. You are rarely lost: the game tells you who to talk to, where to go and what to do.

Talking to an NPC

  1. Click on the NPC. If you are far away, your character walks there by itself.
  2. The dialogue window opens: their portrait, name, what they do and a text with their story.
  3. Below you see a list of options with icons. Pick one with a click.
  4. To finish, choose “Goodbye”, press Esc or walk away. You do not have to type hi or keywords: everything is done with buttons. The window closes by itself if you move more than four tiles away, and you can keep walking while it is open.

The icons on the options and the ones above NPC heads mean the same thing:

IconWhat it means
Yellow !They have a new quest for you.
Yellow ?You finished their quest: go back to turn it in and get paid.
Blue !A daily or weekly quest.
Gray !You still need more levels (shown from 3 levels before).
Gray ?The quest is in progress, you have not finished it yet.

Accepting and turning in a quest

  • When you pick a quest you see the title, the story, the objectives, the recommended level (“Level X to Y”) and the rewards with their icons (experience, gold, items, reputation, dungeon access).
  • Press Accept to take it or Decline to leave it for later.
  • When you complete the objectives, the NPC shows the turn-in page. Press Complete quest and collect.

The quest log (L key)

Press L to open your log. It is your control center.

  • It has three tabs: In progress, Available (the ones you can already take) and Achievements.
  • When you pick a quest you see the story, what you have to do and where (zone, coordinates, which monsters and what level).
  • The “See on map” button opens the world map at the quest location and marks it on the minimap. Everything is explained in Quests on the map.
  • “Track / Stop tracking” decides whether the quest appears in the on-screen tracker.
  • “Abandon” drops the quest.

Quest types: the main story and each House chain (they open their dungeons), side quests (people on the roads with a problem), city quests and daily, weekly and repeatable ones. See the quest reference (in Spanish).

What they ask of you: kill monsters, get a quest item, talk to someone, explore a place, use an object on the map, deliver something, finish a dungeon or take part in an event. No step should take you more than about 15 minutes.

The quest tracker (on screen)

In the top right corner, under the minimap, you see a box with your quests in progress.

  • Each quest is a block. The [+] / [-] button unfolds or folds it. Folded, it shows only the title and progress (for example, 3/6).
  • Unfolded, it shows the objectives with a dot (or a tick if done) and a progress bar.
  • When you have done everything, the block turns green and says “Done: go back to ”.
  • Click the title to open that quest in the log. Right-click opens a menu: open in the log, fold or unfold, see on the map or stop tracking. The light-blue pin next to the progress opens the map at that quest.
  • You can track up to 5 quests at once. New ones are tracked automatically while there is room.
  • The top button folds or unfolds the whole box. If they do not all fit, you see “+N more”.

The game remembers what you folded on each character.

The quest bag (U key)

Some quests give you quest items (a seal, a flask, a shovel…). These items take no room in your backpack, are not lost when you die, cannot be dropped and cannot be traded: they go to a separate bag.

  1. Press U to open the Quest bag. You see each item, how many you have and which quest it is for.
  2. To use it, press “Use with” (or double-click the item). The cursor becomes a crosshair.
  3. Click on the spot, map object or monster where you want to use it.

You can also click directly on the object on the map while holding the quest item in the bag.

Note: the items a quest asks for only drop from monsters while you have the quest. If one does not drop, the next time it is more likely.

Marks on the map and minimap

The game helps you see where to go. On the minimap (top right) and on the world map (M key) you see marks, in four layers:

LayerWhat it marks
QuestsNPCs with a quest: yellow ! (available), yellow ? (ready to turn in), gray ? (in progress) and blue for dailies.
ObjectivesThe places of the quests you track: a mark in the center of the area. If the area is big, you see four small marks on its edge. They update by themselves as you complete things.
DungeonsThe entrances: violet portal if you have access, gray if not yet, gold if it is the Dungeon of the day. Hover to see the name and levels.
ServicesThe temple, the Ark (depot), the bank, the blacksmith, the main shops and the boat or coach to the other city.
  • The funnel button (top left of the minimap) turns each layer on or off. The game remembers your choice.
  • Click a mark and your character walks there.
  • World map (M key): the big map of the island. Wheel to zoom, drag to move, M or Esc to close.
  • Glow: when you are 10 tiles or less from an objective (explore, use an item, kill in a hunting zone), the spot glows for you. Only you see it.
  • Target monsters: they carry a small mark next to their name.

Step by step: How to find your quests on the map.

New: the dungeon and service marks were just added and are still being polished, so they may change a little.

Daily and weekly quests

They are given by the town criers, Pregonero Rocco (Ashport) and Heraldo Ansgar (Ironhold). NPC names are not translated. They are short, optional and there is no penalty if you skip them.

  • Dailies: hunt the Quarry of the day, finish the Dungeon of the day and a House contract.
  • Weekly: the GM’s Chest. Complete 3 of 6 weekly tasks and pick 1 of 3 gifts.
  • They reset at midnight (game time, UTC-6). The week starts on Monday.

Quest rewards are experience, gold, House reputation, dungeon access and, in some cases, ranked items.

Quests inside dungeons

In the works: quests completed inside a dungeon. Today a quest can ask you to finish a dungeon, but there are no tasks of their own inside.
