On this page: how to move, rotate, shrink or enlarge your action bars and the other pieces of the screen, how to add new bars and how to put everything back the way it was.
Rift Delve has an interface edit mode, like the “Edit Mode” in World of Warcraft or the Lost Ark interface: open the editor, drag every piece where you like it and press Save.
Open the editor
There are two ways:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + E (E for Edit).
- Or press Esc and choose “Edit interface” in the game menu.
The first time you enter the game a small card tells you about it, with an “Edit now” button.
You can change the key in Options > Controls > General Hotkeys (category “Rift Delve”), like every other key. We do not use Ctrl + E because it already closes the chat tab.
What you see in edit mode
The whole screen gets a bit darker and every piece shows a purple frame with its name: your action bars, the portrait with your health and mana, status effects (buffs), the minimap, the quest and event tracker, the chat, the button menu, the experience bar and the battle list. The “Edit interface” panel opens on the right.
- Drag a frame to move that piece. While you drag it, the snap sticks it to the screen edges and to the other pieces (a golden line appears when it snaps). If you do not want it, untick “Snap: stick to the edges and to other pieces”.
- Click a frame to select that piece: its frame turns gold and the panel shows its options.
- Everything changes right away, so you see how it looks before saving.
Options of each action bar
Select a bar (for example “Bar 1”) and the panel gives you:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Horizontal / Vertical | Rotates the bar. |
| Slots - 12 + | How many slots you see, from 4 to 12. The rest are still there: scroll with the small arrows of the bar. |
| Small / Normal / Large | The size of the slots. |
| Lock slots | So you do not drag an ability off the bar by accident. |
| Hide / Show | Hides the bar without losing what it holds. Hidden pieces look faded in the editor: select one and press “Show”. |
| Reset place | Puts that piece back in its default place. |
| Remove bar | Takes the bar off the screen. At least one bar always stays. |
What each slot holds does not change when you move, rotate, shrink or remove the bar. If you remove a bar and add one again later, it comes back with the same abilities and keys.
Adding bars
Press ”+ Add bar”. You can have up to 5 bars at once; the panel tells you how many you have (“You have 3 of 5 bars”). When you reach 5 the button turns off and explains that you have to remove one to add another.
New bars never appear in the middle of the screen: the first three stack at the bottom center, above bar 1, and the next ones appear vertical on the left, under your portrait. From there you move them wherever you want.
The other pieces
| Piece | Can be moved | Can be hidden |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait (health and mana) | Yes | No (you need it to play) |
| Status effects (buffs) | Yes | No (they only show when you have one) |
| Minimap | Yes | Yes |
| Quests and events (tracker) | Yes | Yes |
| Chat | Yes | No |
| Button menu | Yes | No |
| Experience bar | Yes | Yes |
| Battle list | Yes | Yes (it closes; open it again with X) |
The battle list and the other small windows of the right column (equipment, backpacks, friends) can also be dragged by their title at any time, as always. The battle list keeps its place on each character.
Save, cancel or back to default
- Save: keeps the changes and closes the editor. You see “Interface saved.”.
- Cancel: undoes everything you did since you opened the editor.
- Reset to default: puts every piece back in its default place. Your bars keep their abilities. You still have to press Save to keep it (or Cancel if you change your mind).
- If you press Esc with unsaved changes, the game asks you: Save, Discard or Keep editing.
Where it is saved and what happens if you resize the window
- Your interface is saved per account: all the characters of the same account share it (on this computer).
- If you change the resolution or the size of the window, every piece stays stuck to “its” edge or corner. If one ends up outside the screen, the game moves it back in by itself.
Quick questions
A vertical bar ended up in the middle of the game. Open the editor (Ctrl + Shift + E) and drag it to an edge, or select it and press “Reset place”.
I messed everything up. Editor > Reset to default > Save.
The editor does not open. It works with the Rift Delve interface. If you switched to the classic one, turn it on again in Options > Interface > Appearance (“MMO layout in game”).
