On this page: where to buy and sell, the bank, how to store your best loot in the Ark and improve it at the Altar. Also what is coming: the depot market and the Reforging Table.

How gold is earned and spent

  • You earn gold from monster loot, quests, the dungeon chest and by selling what you find.
  • You spend gold on potions, runes and ammunition, repairing gear, travel, dungeon keys and, if you slip up in the tree, resetting it (the first reset is free).

The golden rule of the economy: potions, runes and ammunition are bought. There are no free supplies (except inside the classic Rift). Prices are designed so you cannot make gold by buying from one NPC and selling to another.

Shops

  1. Click the vendor NPC.
  2. Choose “Trade” (for a pure merchant, the shop opens by itself).
  3. The trade window opens: a Buy tab and a Sell tab. Their dialogue window stays next to it.
  4. Pick the item, the amount and press the button. When you select an item you see its detail below. | What you buy | Example NPCs in Ashport | |---|---| | Potions (health, mana) | Nerea la Destiladora | | Runes and wands or rods | Casimiro el Rúnico | | Weapons | Rufo Cuchillas | | Bows, arrows and spears | Bruna la Flechera | | Armor and shields | Tecla la Remendona | | Food and tools | Pepa Tripas, Gil Cabos |

Starting prices: a health potion costs 45 and a mana potion 50. The full list is in Economy and shops (in Spanish).

Shops only sell rank D gear (no attributes). Anything with attributes comes from loot and chests. To sell, see Items.

Bank

Banks (Lisandro Monedero in Ashport, Henrike Pesaoro in Ironhold) keep your gold safe. Click the banker to deposit, withdraw or check your balance. Repairs are paid first from the gold you carry and then from the bank.

Travel and keys

  • Traveling between cities: a boatman or coachman; it costs about 80 to 100 gold per trip (Ashport to Ironhold).
  • Dungeon keys: some dungeons can be opened with a key sold by an NPC, in addition to their quest. Keys are not used up.

The Ark: your safe storage

The Ark stores your ranked loot with all its attributes. It holds up to 40 items. There is one in each city and they are all the same Ark, so you take out what you stored from any of them.

  1. Press K to open Ark and Altar (or use !arca).
  2. On the left you see what you have stored. Drag an item from your backpack to store it.
  3. Pick an item from the list to work on it, or “Take from the Ark” to return it to your backpack. It is useful for keeping a good item you cannot use yet, having a spare, or protecting one while you improve another. Unsecured loot (from a dungeon) cannot be stored or improved until you leave with it.

The Altar: improving your loot

The Rift Altar is next to the Ark. There you turn loot you no longer use into materials and improve the loot you do use. Materials come in the colors of the rarities: gray, green, blue, purple and orange.

ActionWhat it does
DisassembleDestroys an item and gives you materials depending on its rarity.
RerollChanges the values of an item’s attributes (the attributes stay). If it does not improve, the next try rolls the best of several values: bad luck is compensated.
EnchantAdds a new attribute (up to the maximum of its rarity). It can fail, and each failure in a row raises the chance of the next one.
CleanRemoves an attribute you do not want.
GemCrafted from materials; protects one attribute from the reroll.
Protective sealProtects an item from losing an attribute if you die in a dungeon. It costs secured Essence.

The cost of each action is in Ark and Altar (in Spanish).

Tip: do not disassemble an item without inspecting it with Shift first (see Items). Sometimes what looks old still suits your subclass.

What is coming

In the works: the depot market. A market (player marketplace, like those of other classic MMOs) inside the depot.

In the works: the Reforging Table. A new step by step window that will replace the Ark and Altar one, to make it much clearer.

Today you use the Ark and Altar window (key K) you just saw.
