What makes an MMORPG casual
In Rift Delve you do not need to pile up hours to feel you moved forward. Every short session ends the same way: a boss, a chest and a reward.
- Dungeons of 15 to 25 minutes, with a copy of their own for your group, so nobody steals your boss.
- One talent point per level and more nodes than points, so every level-up shows.
- No PvP inside dungeons and full protection until level 25.
- Subclass at level 20 and a free swap, so you can try without fear of a wrong choice.
How long a session lasts
| What | How long or how it works |
|---|---|
| Tutorial (Sieve Isle) | Levels 1 to 9, about 20 minutes, with a three-floor dungeon. It is planned for the beta and you can skip it at any time. |
| One dungeon | 15 to 25 minutes, on Normal or Heroic. Heroic opens once you finish Normal. |
| Every floor | Leave with your Essence at x1.5, or go one floor deeper and cash it in at x2. |
| Boss chest | Pick 1 of 3 rewards. The rank (D to S) multiplies the item. |
| What you take home | Experience, gold and one more node for your talent tree. |
What happens if you die in a dungeon
What you find inside stays unsecured until you leave through the portal. If you die, you lose the unsecured Essence and loot of that run, but not experience or level. Your teammates carry on and you are out of that run.
That is why choosing between leaving and going one floor deeper gives a short session its weight.
Playing with friends or alone
The first dungeons can be done solo. If you want a group, press F and the group finder builds one in seconds. The E key picks up all the loot around you, with no click-by-click.
